Removed from his family by a juvenile court for his own protection and to give him a chance at a better start in life, nine year old problem child Mario is taken in by Guilia and Sandro. The latter, from highly bourgeois families, lead very comfortable lives. They have been living together for two years and have decided to apply to become temporary foster parents; which means, for the three of them, a confrontation between their very different worlds.
