BENEATH THE SAME MOON
by Carlo Luglio
synopsis
In Scampia, a dormitory city on the outskirts of Naples, only violence rules. Conflict is everywhere: between the younger and older members of the Camorra, between the Neapolitans and the gypsies, between men and women. In this desolate landscape, a Camorra boss just out of prison crosses paths with the two young men who have replaced him, and two gypsies who are trying to survive without returning to jail. A hub for drug dealing, the area, controlled by the lower-ranking Camorra bosses, is torn apart by endless conflict. Whilst, even within the heart of the organisation, battles rage – the new generation slowly ousting the older «capi» – the cohabitation of members of the underworld and the Romanies who live in the same area is particularly problematic. In this difficult environment, two young gypsies, Pavel and Oliver, are trying, each in their own way, to earn enough to get by.
