REMEMBER VUKOVAR
by Fadil Hadžić
synopsis
During the Yugoslav People’s Army’s occupation of the Croatian town of Vukovar in November 1991, the defenders of the town are being rounded up. They will eventually be taken to the mass slaughter grounds at the now notorious farm of Ovčara. Above all others, one man is the top target: Siniša Glavašević, a Croatian Radio Vukovar journalist, who came to be regarded as the voice of the besieged town. He was the one who told the Croatian public, and indeed the world, on a daily basis, what was really happening in the besieged town, exposing the truth about the killing of civilians by Yugoslav People’s Army forces once they entered the town.
