Tom Hooper

Tom Hooper was born in London in 1972, where he attended Westminster School, he later studied English at Oxford University where he directed stage plays with fellow students including Kate Beckinsale and Emily Mortimer. During the past decade has directed numerous awardwinning works for television, featuring Helen Mirren (ELIZABETH I), Hilary Swank (RED DUST) and Laura Linney (JOHN ADAMS) in leading roles. His feature film debut, the football drama THE DAMNED UNITED, was released theatrically in 2009. His film, THE KING'S SPEECH (2010) won a prizes avalanche among which 4 Academy Awards for Best Achievement in Directing, (Tom Hooper) Best Motion Picture of the Year, Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role (Colin Firth) and Best Writing, Original Screenplay.
