Hubert Toint

Born in 1955, Hubert Toint graduated in 1978 in Social Communication at UCL in Belgium, and in 1980 at the Los Angeles based American Film Institute (in directing). In 1989 he participated in EAVE (EU MEDIA program), starting his cinema career as director of numerous films (short films, industrial, educational and advertising films), such as “Trombones en Coulisses” which won several international awards.
In 1987, Hubert Toint founded SAGA FILM. Since then, SAGA FILM has produced or co-produced more than 40 feature films, more than 15 TV series, each one with an average of 10 episodes of 90 minutes, 7 TV mini-series, 15 TV movies, about 60 creative documentaries, without mentioning the 13 short films. Among the feature films Marie with Marie Gillain, Le fils du Requin (International Critics Award of the Venice film Festival), The Commissioner selected for Berlinale, Au delà de Gibraltar, Pas si grave, Lady Chatterley (5 Cesars), Frédéric Sojcher’s documentary Cinéastes à tout prix, which was chosen to be in the Official Selection of Cannes 2004, or Hubert Sauper’s “Le cauchemar de Darwin” (authors’ award of the Venice Mostra 2004 and Best European documentary 2004…).
Most recent productions by Saga are Hitler in Hollywood, Le cochon de Gaza (When pigs have wings- César du Meilleur premier film), 2 days in New York (selected at Sundance), the documentary series Amsterdam Stories USA selected at IFDA, The Life of Another with Juliette Binoche, and Mirage d’amour written by Bernard Giraudeau and directed by Hubet Toint.
