João Botelho

Born in Lamego (Portugal) in 1949, João Botelho starts his career as a film critic and founds “M”, a movie magazine. Later, he signs several features including A Portuguese Farewell (1986), selected in Berlin, Hard Times (1988), Here on Earth (1993), Tráfico (1998), Who Are You? (2001) and The Fatalist (2005), all screened in Venice. In 2014, he directs The Maias: Scenes from Romantic Life.
