Bénédicte Liénard

Bénédicte Liénard was born in Borinage. She studied cinema at the Institut des Arts de Diffusion (Institute of Broadcast Arts) in Louvain-La-Neuve and graduated in 1988. Bénédicte then directed commissioned and produced several short and full- lenght documentaries. In 2002, she finished her feature-length fiction film Une part du ciel which was presented in the official “Un certain regard” selection at Cannes and at many other festivals (Toronto, San Sebastian, New York…). Since then, the director has directed several hard-hitting documentaries, widely distributed at festivals and on television including D’arbres et de charbon selected at the Vision du Réel Festival in Nyon in 2012 and Sobre Las Brasas directed with Mary Jiménez in 2013.
