Thomas Vinterberg

Born in Copenhagen on 19.5.1969, he made his first short film at the age of sixteen and entered the Danish film school at nineteen, making him the youngest student there at the time. In 1995 he and Lars von Trier initiated the ‘Dogma’ manifesto. Vinterberg’s film FESTEN, which was made according to these ‘Dogma’ rules, went on to win the critics’ award FIPRESCI in Cannes.

Since then he has made a number of international productions, including IT’S ALL ABOUT LOVE (2003 Berlinale), as well as music videos for bands such as Blur and Metallica. (source: Berlin Film Festival)
