The newest edition of our partnership with the Animation Festival Network kicks off with another workshop at the Animest International Animation Film Festival in Bucharest, Romania, from 8 to 13 October 2024. In this cycle, the Animest workshop will have a focus on video criticism and journalism. Four promising film journalists and critics will work with tutor Ana Stanić, head of the video department at Cineuropa, on video reviews and interviews, industry reports, video essays and reels focused on the animation scene.

Sergiu Inizian
Sergiu Inizian is a journalist based in Bucharest, Romania. In addition to writing a series of cinema essays for the international art organisation Arcadia, he has co-written two short films. Previously he covered the Transilvania International Film Festival and Les Films de Cannes à Bucarest, two of Romania's most popular festivals. He participated in the 2023 FIPRESCI Warsaw Critics Project and he frequently collaborates with Eye for Film, a UK-based publication which saw him covering the 2024 Berlinale. He previously participated in a GoCritic! workshop at Fest Anča and is an alumnus of Talents Sarajevo.

Arsène Rosenmann
Arsène Rosenmann is a newcomer to the professional field. He has been drawn to animation since he was a child, and he never lost that interest. During his bachelor’s degree in cinematographic and audiovisual studies at Université Gustave Eiffel, from which he graduated in 2016, he directed the documentary La Voie de l’arc (The Way Of The Bow) about Japanese archery, and he participated in the making of the student film Clair Obscur. In 2023, he graduated with a master’s degree in Japanese language and culture from Université Paris Cité. Arsène enjoys the process of research and has written about architects Tadao Ando and Kengo Kuma. More recently, he has been experimenting with ways to express himself, particularly by vlogging and drawing short comics.

Andreea Vraja
Andreea Vraja pursued her dream of working in the film industry and is currently a marketing secretary at the Office for Film and Cultural Investments, an institution of the Romanian Ministry of Culture that manages the Cash Rebate program. As a lifelong movie fan with a background in graphic design and radio journalism, she co-founded Cinefilia.ro, a Romanian blog that creates content and reviews about movies and series. For the past six years, she has also managed all social media pages affiliated with the project. Full of passion and curiosity, she embraces most cinematographic genres but has a particular fondness for the history of film and animation. Fascinated by the world of motion pictures, she dedicates significant time to researching the industry. With a strong educational background in journalism, multimedia and audiovisual production, her commitment to self-study and research is evident in her writing as she works toward becoming a Romanian film critic. In June 2022, at the Transilvania International Film Festival, her Cinefilia project received a special mention within the Alex Leo Șerban Scholarship, and in the same year, she was selected for GoCritic! at Animateka International Animated Film Festival.

Ioana Zamfir
Ioana Zamfir is primarily a writer, secondarily a film lover. A long-time interdisciplinary researcher for the feminist film group F-Sides and a volunteer museum archivist, she's only transitioned into freelance film writing somewhat recently. She's currently pursuing an MA in Anthropology with an interest in visual studies. Her coming to film happened through her belief in it as a medium for cultural and political praxis.
