GoCritic! Fest Anča 2025

The next GoCritic! workshop in partnership with the Animation Festival Network will take place at the Fest Anča International Animation Festival in Žilina, Slovakia, from 24-29 June. Four promising international film journalists and critics will work with tutor Carmen Grey on reviews, interviews, industry stories and essays focused on the animation scene. These articles will be published on Cineuropa and Zippy Frames.

Berenika Balcer

Berenika Balcer is an editor and writer. While born, raised and currently based in Poland, she graduated from Lancaster University with a degree in Media and Cultural Studies and then spent a year at the University of Amsterdam. As an undergrad, she created The Lambert, the first and only Polish student media in the UK, and later worked in social media and communications. Currently, she does editing and proofreading for an art publication and a platform about Ukraine, helps at various film festivals, and publishes film analysis and reviews, facilitating her own corner of the internet while interested in all things culture.

Magdalena Nieświec

Magdalena Nieświec is a Krakow-based writer and film professional with academic roots in Intercultural Relations and Film Studies & New Media from Jagiellonian University. She currently works as part of the production team at the Kraków Film Festival and serves as a programmer for a short film section at the Etiuda & Anima International Film Festival. She specialises in Southeast Asian cinema, with a particular focus on underrepresented narratives and historical resistance in visual media. Her video essay on Nobuhiko Obayashi earned her a spot on the International People's Jury at the Five Flavours Asian Film Festival, and her essay on collective and individual memory in the Cambodian documentaries of Rithy Panh received the main award in the inaugural Jagoda Murczyńska film critics competition in 2024. In March 2025, she joined Asian Movie Pulse as a contributor, writing review and covering major events such as the Jeonju International Film Festival.

Andy Stoeva

Andy Stoeva is a film critic, poet and graphic designer who graduated in animation at New Bulgarian University. Andy writes short stories, articles, film reviews, script and poems, some of which have been published on various platforms, including Interpret, Cineuropa, Zippy Frames, L’Europeao, Kino and others. He attended the GoCritic! workshop at Fest Anča in Žilina, Slovakia, MIOB - Lab of Cultural, Creative and Festival Journalism at the European Film Forum Scanorama in Vilnius, Talent Press at Talents Sarajevo and the FIPRESCI Critics Project at the 40th Warsaw FIlm Festival. Andy’s first poetry book, “Uncommitted Crimes”, was published earlier this year and has been presented with the Damyan Damyanov national award for best debut.
