GoCritic! Fest Anča 2026

The next GoCritic! workshop in partnership with the Animation Festival Network will take place at the Fest Anča International Animation Festival in Žilina, Slovakia, from 30 June–5 July. Four promising international film journalists and critics will work with tutor Neil Young on reviews, interviews, industry stories and essays focused on the animation scene. These articles will be published on Cineuropa and Zippy Frames.

Rino Lu

Rino Lu is a London-based film critic, curator and artist with an MRes in Art: Theory and Philosophy from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. His criticism engages with global cinema through philosophical and socio-political perspectives. As an accredited press journalist, he has covered major festivals including Cannes, Venice, Berlin and BFI London, contributing bilingually to World Screen, Asian Movie Pulse, Flip Screen, Deep Focus, Naiguan Film and Aside From Books, among others. He was selected for the UK-China Film Collab Future Programme 2025 and has served on juries at the Five Flavours Asian Film Festival, Cornwall Film Festival and Wicked Wales.

Idil Hazal Acar

Idil Hazal Acar is a film critic, novelist and screenwriter. Holding a BA in Philosophy from METU, she began her career in film distribution, then writing for major cinema platforms in Turkey. She is currently a film critic for Webedia and contributes to various radio & TV programs and newspapers. Her debut novel received the Turkish Ministry of Culture’s First Work Support, and her short stories have earned several literary awards. Alongside her writing, she is also active in film production. She is a frequent participant in national film festivals and an alumna of workshops in visual storytelling

Magdalena Nieświec

Magdalena Nieświec is a film scholar and critic collaborating with Krakow Film Festival, International Film Festival Etiuda & Anima and Five Flavours Asian Film Festival. She is the winner of the first edition of the Jagoda Murczyńska Award for Asian Cinema Criticism. In 2023, she participated as a member of the 17th International People's Jury at Five Flavours, and in 2025 she attended the GoCritic! and MIOB Lab international workshops for young film critics. She publishes mainly in Asian Movie Pulse, and her texts have also appeared in EKRANy, Filmweb, culture.pl and Ubiquarian.net.

Fortunata (Tino) Manenti

Fortunata (Tino) Manenti is an early-career audiovisual researcher, programmer and cultural producer from Southern Italy, based in Utrecht (Netherlands). Their work centers on queer filmmaking, intersectional cinema and arthouse & experimental aesthetics, exploring identity, representation and film's transformative power in cultural discourse. A recent MA graduate in Film and Television Cultures from Utrecht University, they have been active in screening club programming and the UEFA critics' group. Their experience includes archival research at the Pier Paolo Pasolini Study Centre in Bologna, youth jury coordination at the Leiden International Film Festival and editorial work through the Media Outreach & Inclusion Programme at IFFR.
