GoCritic! KVIFF 2019

The second edition of GoCritic! at Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, where we launched our project last year, will take place from from 28 June to 6 July, 2019. Four participants will be working with tutors Neil Young and Vladan Petkovic on reviews, interviews and features from the biggest festival in Central and Eastern Europe.

Daniel Mohr (US/Czech Republic)

Daniel Mohr is a New York-born and Prague-raised student currently pursuing his degree in Film and Visual Culture and International Relations at the University of Aberdeen. He is a regular contributor of film reviews and culture-related articles to The Gaudie, Scotland’s longest running student newspaper, and in 2019 he got accepted into the Edinburgh IFF Student Critics Programme. He is also a passionate filmmaker and has made several short student films.

Dunja Nešović (Serbia)

Dunja Nešović is currently finishing her MA in Film Studies at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade. Her academic interests have so far been shifting from feminist film theory to digital humanities. Dunja is one of the team members behind Critical Camp, a project consisting of annual workshops of film criticism and analysis for high school students. In addition to this, she writes occasional columns, reviews and essays on film and digital media for several web portals in Serbia.

Lucas Pistilli (Brazil/UK)

Lucas Pistilli is a Brazilian film reporter based in England. After a stint covering cinema for the culture section of A Crítica, a Brazilian newspaper, he started to report from Europe as a correspondent for the Cine Set website, specialised in the film industry, and also publish film criticism pieces on DMovies. Having covered events such as the Cannes Film Festival and the London Film Festival, he also helped on the production of the BFI Flare and the London Short Film Festival. Passionate about arthouse films, he is happiest when being challenged and awed inside a cinema.

Veronika Zakonjšek (Slovenia)

Veronika Zakonjšek is a freelance journalist and film critic based in Ljubljana, Slovenia. She regularly contributes for print magazines Ekran and KINO!, the online platform Mad About Film, all-female podcast FilmFlow and has most recently dived into writing film education materials for Slovenian high schools. Primarily a Cultural Studies graduate, Veronika has a history of working at film festivals, such as the Festival of Slovenian Film, Isola Cinema and Animateka.
