Patricia Drati Rønde, Emerging Producer 2016 from Denmark, represents production company Good Company Pictures.

Cineuropa: What qualities should a documentary producer have these days?
Patricia Drati Rønde: I don’t think there is a difference between what qualities should a documentary and a fiction film producer have. I believe that any producer needs to be an enthusiastic optimist, a persistent dreamer and a trustworthy diplomat. A good producer should also be a good psychologist, not to mention that he or she should always have a plan A and plan B.

To what extent do you, as a producer, get involved in the creative process?
I love to be involved in the creative process, this is my absolute favourite part of the job. To work with a director who you are on the same wavelength with and to be able to have a creative dialogue together is a real joy. That is also the reason why I applied for the Story Editing course at Torino Film Lab, which I will join this year. 

What projects do you have under way?
I am working on a number of different projects: I have two hybrid films still in development, one of them in collaboration with my fellow Emerging Producer Irina Malcea and we will be presenting the film at the East Doc Platform in March. The other one is a highly artistic Danish project developed in a very untraditional way, which means that it also requires a non-traditional way of financing. The third project is a documentary about a Japanese inventor, who has decided to invent immortality.
