Claude Miller will make a welcome return to directing when his latest film, La Petite Lili goes into production on August 25. Based on Anton Chekov’s classic, “The Seagull” this is a complex familial drama that centres on the main character played by Robinson Stévenin. Produced by France’s Les Films de la Boissière, La Petite Lili is Miller’s twelfth feature. The director learned the intricacies of his profession during his apprenticeship as assistant to Marcel Carné, Roberto Bresson and François Truffaut, whose last unfinished film Miller completed and brought to the screen in 1988, following Truffaut’s untimely death. La Petite Lili will be made over seven weeks spent entirely on location in l’Ile-aux-Moines, in France, and Miller’s cast includes numerous French icons like Bernard Giraudeau, Michel Piccoli, Jean-Pierre Marielle, Nicole Garcia, Julie Depardieu e Ludivine Sagnier.
