Hear My Voice
- The voice of Africa rings out joyfully over the waters of the Lido
Ticket-paying members of the public will have an opportunity to see Nha Fala (My Voice), directed by Portugal’s Flora Gomes (he was actually born in New Guinea) in the Sala Grande on August 30 at 18.30. The film is in competition in Venice 59. Nha fala is a musical comedy that portrays Africa and its people in a joyous and positive light “unlike the usual tales of poverty and hardship”. It was co-produced by Portugal’s Fado Filmes, France’s Les Films de Mai and Samsa Films of Luxemburg with contributions to the Euros 2million budget from ICAM (Instituto do Cinema, Audiovisual e Multimédia), (Instituto do Cinema, Audiovisual e Multimédia), Portugal’s broadcaster, RTP, the Camoes Institute and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
