CANNES 2009 Market / France

Petite Reine and Kinology sell Gans’ Fantomas

by

The whirlwind of announcements has begun at the Film Market at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival, which kicked off this morning. Thomas Langmann’s Paris-based production company La Petite Reine unveiled the project Fantomas by Christophe Gans (Brotherhood of the Wolf, Silent Hill), which will start shooting in late 2009 - early 2010.

With a budget of around €45m, Fantomas is a new film adaptation of the adventures of the literary character known as "the genius of crime", created in 1911 by Pierre Souvestre and Marcel Allain. The character previously inspired four fantasy-like films by Louis Feuillade between 1913 and 1914 and three comedies in the 1960s, starring Jean Marais and Louis de Funès.

International sales are being jointly handled by La Petite Reine and Kinology, who thus add a new title to their well-stocked line-up (see news).
