Dolan wins three Fortnight prizes, Van Groeningen gets Special Mention

Canadian director Xavier Dolan is the most-awarded filmmaker of the Directors’ Fortnight of the 2009 Cannes Film Festival with three prizes for I Killed My Mother: the Art Cinema Award, presented by a jury of indie film exhibitors; the SACD Award (Société des auteurs et compositeurs dramatiques) for a Francophone film; and the Regards Jeunes Prize.

In the French short film category, the SFR Award went to Montparnasse by Mikhaël Hers.

Czech film student Zuzana Kirchnerova-Spidlova received the first Cinéfondation Award, aimed at helping new generations of filmmakers, for her short Baba.
