Film London launches 2009 BoBs

by

Film London has launched the 2009 Best of Borough Film Awards, a.k.a. the BoBs, an annual competition to find the best shorts produced through the London Borough Film Fund Challenge.

The winners of the Jury Award and the Audience Award, from a shortlist of 13, stand to win cash prizes of £2000 each and will be announced at a BAFTA event on 6 July.

London Mayor Boris Johnson said, “London is a globally renowned centre for film. We have a high concentration of great filmmakers, producers, and post-production facilities. But our real wealth is our talent. I’m pleased to be backing the London Borough Film Challenge as it will create unprecedented opportunities for Londoners to try their hand at film and learn how to become part of this exciting sector.”

Adrian Wootton, Chief Executive of Film London, said: “What is really encouraging is the talent displayed in these 13 short films. This scheme is for entry-level filmmakers and year on year am I continually impressed with the quality of work that is produced. The LBFFC is run in partnership with the London boroughs which allows each local authority to reach their own residents giving us the chance to inspire those who may not have previously engaged with film or filmmaking.”

A Guide to Lovemaking - Christian Hayes
The Blurring in Between - Jimmy Swindells
Bubbling Under - Matt Compton
Daisy’s Last Stand - Gary Grant
Finding Sol - Stella Scott
Fresh Off the Boat - Femi Oyeniran
