Meanwhile, production company Liberty Films and UK sales company Independent have closed world rights to Moon. Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group has acquired rights to Italy, Spain, Latin America, and all Asian territories including Japan (excluding South Korea) to join the all English-speaking territory rights already picked up. The deals were concluded by Liberty’s Stuart Fenegan and Sony’s Michael Helfand.

Fenegan said, “I’m delighted to have secured further international sales with Michael Helfand. It shows an ever increasing commitment from Sony and builds yet more momentum for the film.”

Independent’s Head of Sales Abigail Walsh secured further sales at Cannes including France (Swift Distribution), Scandinavia (NonStop Entertainment), Benelux (A-Film Distribution), Middle East (Shooting Stars), CIS (CP Digital), Poland (Monolith Films), Greece (Seven Films), Turkey (Mars Production), South Korea (Daisy Entertainment) and German speaking Europe (Telepool).

Walsh said, “Screenings of Moon were full to the rafters…at this year’s Marché. Duncan’s film will now receive the far reach we were all hoping for.”

Moon releases in the UK on July 17.
