by

In 2008, 72 Spanish productions and co-productions were released in 17 foreign territories (including six European) and amassed a total of €132m at the box office. This was announced by FAPAE president Pedro Pérez, at the 4th Madrid de Cine-Spanish Film Screenings (see news).

The figures reveal that half of the films released in Spain were also released abroad, which led Pérez to comment that "Spanish cinema enjoys greater success outside its borders than at home".
