Unexpected hostage-taking in Cianci’s Dernier étage, gauche, gauche
Final preparations are underway before shooting starts in July on Angelo Cianci’s debut feature, Dernier étage, gauche, gauche.
Written by the director, the film traces the eventful encounter between a bailiff, who arrives to carry out a repossession on a housing estate in a quiet suburb and is taken hostage on the 12th floor of a tower block by a penniless father and his troubled son.
The three men end up spending 24 hours together during which they fight, calm each other down, learn to understand each other and finally get along.
Dernier étage, gauche, gauche is 60% produced by France through Tu vas voir (Gérard Lacroix and Edgard Tenembaum) and Kasso Inc. (Peter and Mathieu Kassovitz) and 40% co-produced by Luxembourg (Nicolas Steil for Iris Productions).
Produced in association with Backup Films, the €3.94m film has received a total of €500,000 in co-production support and pre-sales from Arte France Cinéma, co-production backing from Rhône-Alpes Cinéma, €480,000 from the Eurimages fund, as well as pre-sales from Canal + and Ciné Cinéma.
The seven-week shoot will begin on July 27 in the Rhône region, before relocating to Luxembourg. French distribution and international sales are currently under negotiation.
