Boonekamp trades festival for Film Fund
Former political journalist and current director of the Dutch Film Fund, Toine Berbers, will leave the fund at the end of this month, as earlier announced in December. The management of the Dutch Film Fund has been in a crisis for over a year.
Berbers’ position will be temporarily filled by Ger Bouma, until the arrival of new director Doreen Boonekamp, the current director of the Netherlands Film Festival. The 29th edition of the festival, which will run September 23-October 2, will be the last under her supervision. Boonekamp will start in her new position on October 3.
A new Film Fund Supervisory Board will also be installed on October 3, under the direction of Gerlach Cerfontaine, the former director of Schiphol Amsterdam Airport. The board’s members will include Pearl Dias, Max van Praag, Gerard van der Stelt and Emile Fallaux and will grow to include a total of seven members.
The Netherlands Film Festival announced today that Willemien van Aalst will replace Boonekamp after her departure. Van Aalst is currently a creative producer at IdtV Docs and a former director of the IDFA documentary film festival.
