“Animated films have an honorary position in the festival programme each year. It is wonderful to be able to present Swedish animation in this kind of festive and international context,” said Göteborg artistic director Marit Kapla, who will attend the event in Berlin.

The same Swedish animation programme will screen during the annual Göteborg Book Fair, the largest in Scandinavia, in late September, at which Kapla and Saleh will take part in an open seminar discussion. Metropia is set to open in Sweden in November.

The upcoming 33rd GIFF (January 29-February 8, 2010) will pay tribute to US animation specialist Caroline Leaf, Oscar nominated in 1976 for The Street.
