film profile]), is among the 14 films set to vie for the Crystal Globe at the 44th Karlovy Vary Film Festival, which kicks off tomorrow.
Co-written by the director, Zsófia Ruttkay and Attila Réthly, the screenplay also credits the cast of nine non-professional actors: István Szüle, Gyöngyvér Országh, Corbisier Kim, Kamilla Fátyol, Zsolt Páll, Csaba Gosztonyi, Csaba Czene, Kati Farkas and Eszter Tóth.
The film is indeed the result of 20 days of improvisation on the theme of complex emotional relationships. Sara loves Mark are in love and expecting a baby, but he is also in love with Sophie. She only has eyes for Andras, who is married to Rita, who is attracted to young Natasha, and so on….
Produced by Eurofilm Stúdió (who are also handling international sales), I Am Not Your Friend was co-produced by Filmax Kft. and received backing from the Motion Picture Public Foundation of Hungary and Hungarian Ministry of Culture.
Besides some minority co-productions, Hungarian film will also be represented at Karlovy Vary in the competitive section East of the West by Áron Mátyássy’s Lost Times [+see also:
