Zingaretti turns to terrorism for directorial debut

) is thinking about moving behind the camera. “I’m writing a screenplay with Domenico Starnone and will direct the project this autumn," he announced.

Zingaretti says the story is about "the private lives of the families of the victims of political terrorism, people who were forgotten by everyone and barely compensated, not just financially but morally as well".

The idea and desire to make the film came from readings Zingaretti held of Spingendo la Notte Più in Là by Mario Calabresi, son of police chief Luigi Calabresi, who was killed in 1972 in Milan. However, the soon-to-be director says he won’t be basing his film on any one text in particular.

"I want the story to be paradigmatic, to reveal what happens to a family that suddenly loses a father," he says. He adds he doesn’t want to play that role and that “the events will be seen through the eyes of a child".
