Kosse promoted at Universal

London based David Kosse, the international distribution head for Universal Pictures International (UPI), has been promoted to President, International. In his new role, Kosse will be responsible for enhancing revenues across the company’s international divisions, including home entertainment, television and theatrical distribution.

Kosse oversaw two very successful years for Universal at the international box office. In 2008, international grosses increased by 67% from 2007, with the total reaching $1.71bn, compared to the previous year’s $1.03bn, including the UK/US co-production Mamma Mia! [+see also:

, which grossed over $600m worldwide.

Chairmen of Universal Pictures Marc Shmuger and David Linde said, “David understands global markets better than anyone in our business and has been a primary reason for the success of UPI. This promotion is a much-deserved recognition of his enormous contributions to shaping and enhancing Universal’s international profile. As our company expands to become even more globally focused, his experience and steady hand will provide greater leadership across Universal’s film divisions.”
