Filming is currently underway in Luxembourg on Trouble No More, the closing part in the Troublemaker trilogy of local cult director Andy Bausch.

The trilogy started in 1988 when Bausch reunited with then unknown actor Thierry van Werveke for the film Troublemaker, and the film about fumbling criminal Johnny Chicago quickly gained cult status in the Grand Duchy and beyond (Michael Haneke saw the film, which led to Van Werveke being cast in two of his films).

Almost ten years later, in 1997, Bausch made Back in Trouble, a sequel to his first hit film. And again a decade later, Bausch has started filming on the closing part of his trilogy, Trouble No More, in which Johnny Chicago is no longer alive, a necessary plot invention since Van Werveke, who turned Johnny into an iconic Luxembourg character, died at the beginning of this year.

Before van Werveke’s death, Bausch extensively interviewed his favourite actor as well as those who worked with him for the documentary InThierryView.

In this final chapter, one of Johnny Chicago’s best friends from jail tries to take Johnny’s ashes to the United States.

Filming on Trouble No More started on July 1 and will continue through August 15 in the city of Luxembourg, with two days planned in Chicago. The film stars Marco Lorenzini, Nilton Martins, Hervé Sogne, Ender Frings, Nicole Max and André Jung.

The €1.3m film is produced by David Grumbach, Paul Thiltges and Rolf Schmid for PTD and FAMA Film, with backing from the Film Fund Luxembourg.
