Bonnaire, Cavani and Dante join Ang Lee

Five new names have been announced for the International Competition jury of the 66th Venice International Film Festival (September 2-12) – presided over by two-time Golden Lion winner Ang Lee – directed for the fifth consecutive year by Marco Müller.

The five new members are French actress Sandrine Bonnaire, star of Agnès Varda’s 1985 Golden Lion winner Vagabond, and winner of the 1995 Volpi Cup for Best Actress for Claude Chabrol’s A Judgment in Stone; director Liliana Cavani, a constant presence at Venice since her award-winning debut film Primo Piano: Philippe Petain, Processo a Vichy and first feature, Francis of Assisi (1966); US filmmaker Joe Dante, in 2004 the “godfather” of the Venice Fest retrospective “Italian Kings of the Bs”; leading Indian director-screenwriter Anurag Kashyap; and Italian singer-writer-director Luciano Ligabue, whose 1998 film Radiofreccia was presented at Venice and won three David di Donatello and Nastri d'Argento awards.
