The White Ribbon scoops Best Film of the Year FIPRESCI

will receive the FIPRESCI Grand Prize for Best Film of the Year 2009.

This magnificent black-and-white study of all the shades of evil in a rural community in pre-First World War Germany previously won the FIPRESCI Prize and Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. It has also recently been chosen to represent Germany in the nomination race for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar.

The Grand Prize, presented since 1999 at the San Sebastian Festival, was awarded by 223 international critics. Previous winners include Pedro Almodóvar, Aki Kaurismäki and Jean-Luc Godard.
