MOFFOM Music on Film/Film on Music Minifest & Market will take place in Berlin from September 16th to 18th, the original dates of the now cancelled Popkomm international music market. This event, organized by Just Temptation, includes both a market part aiming at film and music professionals as well as a mini festival part.
A total of 6 films with a strong musical element will be screened at MOFFOM Minifest. It will start on Wednesday 16th with the Berlin premiere of Still Bill, a documentary portrait of legendary singer/songwriter Bill Withers. The same evening will also pay tribute to Lars von Trier by showing his celebrated musical Dancer in the Dark with Björk's stunning performance and soundtrack contribution.
The MOFFOM Minifest includes in total three Berlin premieres, five music documentaries, one feature film and one director as guest, David Kleijwegt, who will participate in a Q&A session on Friday 18th.
On the other hand, the MOFFOM Market will take place on Thursday 17th, and will include a co-production market for music-oriented film and documentary projects in financing stage. Throughout the day the panels will offer insights in soundtrack marketing strategies and the creative collaborations between filmmakers and musicians as speakers like Mikkel Maltha (Zentropa), Andro Steinborn (NEU Filmproduktion), Thomas Jamois (Naïve Label) or Hannes Stöhr (Berlin Calling) share their experiences.
Music producers and TV buyers will also take part in this market, which will bring the film and music industry together to talk about how to make the most of the synergies between music and film.
