Reykjavik-Rotterdam shooting for Hollywood

Iceland’s entry for this year’s Academy Awards nominations in the Best Foreign Language Film category is Óskar Jónasson’s Reykjavik-Rotterdam [+see also:

film profile], starring Baltasar Kormákur and Ingvar E. Sigurdsson.
The comedy-drama was awarded five Eddas by the Icelandic film academy last year, including Best Director and Best Screenplay, co-written by Jónasson and popular Icelandic novelist Arnaldur Indridason (Jar City [+see also:

film profile]). Released by Sena in Iceland, the title was the seventh most popular film of 2008 with over 27,000 admissions.
Reykjavik-Rotterdam was produced by Kormákur’s Blueeyes Productions with Rotterdam Films in the Netherlands. Sales are handled by NonStop Sales.
The Oscar nominations will be announced on February 2, 2010 and the Academy Awards ceremony will take place on March 7 in Los Angeles.
