is scheduled to open in Slovenia on Oct 1, right after its screening at the Slovenian Film Festival in Portoroz. Distributor Cinemania Group is releasing it on six prints.

Set in the year of Slovenia's EU presidency, the drama tells the story of Aleksandra, a 23-year-old student of English whose secret source of income is prostitution. She's manipulative and an accomplished liar and the only person she cares about is her father, an old, faded rocker living in a small town. Her motive is a better life that is harder to achieve than she expected.

Slovenian Girl premiered at the Sarajevo Film Festival and features excellent newcomer Nina Ivanisin in the lead. The €1.5m film was co-produced by Slovenia's Vertigo, Germany's Neue Mediopolis Film, Serbia's Bas Celik and Croatia's 4 Film, with participation from Slovenian Television and funding from the Slovenian Film Fund, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg GmbH, Film Center Serbia and the Croatian Ministry of Culture.

The film is Kozole's ninth feature. Others include Spare Parts, Labour Equals Freedom and the comedy Porn Film, which garnered 60,000 admissions in Slovenia in 2000.

After Sarajevo, Slovenian Girl screened at Toronto and Reykjavik, and has been invited to Raindance in London, Pusan, Montreal New Cinema Festival, Warsaw, Valencia, Thessaloniki, Leeds and Rotterdam.
