5th fest of German film in Tokyo scores with audiences

The 5th Festival of German Films in Tokyo (October 15-18, see news) ended with a successful 4,500 admissions, a clear sign that the event has established itself in the Japanese capital.

A hit with audiences at every showcase it’s played, Fatih Akin’s comedy Soul Kitchen [+see also:

was snatched up by local distributors as soon as the festival ended.

Japanese buyers also showed great interest in Heinrich Breloer’s The Buddenbrooks: The Decline of a Family [+see also:

]
and Marie Miyayama’s The Red Spot.
