10% drop in film production in 2009
According to estimations by the FICAM (Federation of Film, Audiovisual and Multimedia Industries), the number of majority French film productions fell by 10.2% in 2009, with 158 features compared to 176 in 2008.
Meanwhile, investments dropped by 25% to €905m. The FICAM puts this sharp decline down to "the absence, in 2009, of two important films which made an impact in 2008" (Arthur and the Revenge of Maltazard [+see also:

The number of weeks spent shooting also fell by 15%, with a marked decrease in the second half of the year.
Finally, FICAM has revealed that 35mm remains the most popular format for film shoots (62% compared to 69% in 2008), despite the increased use of digital.
