ECU opens submissions

by

The European Independent Film Festival (ECU), which showcases the work of talented independent directors, has opened submissions for presenting a film or screenplay in competition.

The deadline for all submissions is December 14, 2009, with an additional late deadline of January 4, 2010. The festival will take place in Paris, from March 12-14, 2010.

The ECU comprises three main film categories: European, Non-European and Worldwide. The first includes all European films produced with less than 50% investment from a major production company or television network. The films can be in any language, but it is recommended to include subtitles in French and English.

The Non-European Films section is open to all features, shorts and documentaries made outside Europe. For its part, the Worldwide section covers films by students and news and current affairs professionals.

ECU also hosts a Script Category, which focuses on independent scripts not aimed at the major Hollywood film markets.

The event aims to put the spotlight on European independent directors, as a place for discovering, promoting and showing the best independent film talent in the world.
