Upturn continues in theatres
There have been eight consecutive months of rising audience figures in French theatres, which attracted 178.7m viewers during the first 11 months of 2009, i.e. 4% more than the same period in 2008, according to estimates published by the National Film and Moving Image Centre (CNC).
A total of 20.8m admissions were amassed during November (14.8% more than in November 2008), which is the best result in the past 30 years for this period.
The market share for French films is estimated at 36.8% for the first 11 months of 2009, compared to 47.6% for US productions and 15.6% for features from other countries.
