Spain says farewell to Villalba

Producer Tedy Villalba died yesterday at the age of 74. Twenty-five years ago, he helped set up the Film Academy, where for many years he held the roles of director and vice-president. In 2006, his work was rewarded with an Honorary Goya for Lifetime Achievement and Contribution to Spanish Cinema.

During his lengthy career spanning six decades, Villalba worked with distinguished artists such as Orson Welles (Mr.Arkadin), King Vidor (Solomon and Sheba), David Lean (Lawrence of Arabia, Doctor Zhivago), John Huston (Moby Dick), Anthony Mann (El Cid, The Fall of the Roman Empire), Stanley Kubrick (Spartacus) and Pedro Almodóvar (Dark Habits, What Have I Done to Deserve This?).
