Ecocinema' island

50 films from 17 countries (features, shorts and documentaries) were selected for the 2nd edition of Ecocinema, the Mediterranean and Balkan area’s only environmental film event, scheduled to take place on the Greek island of Zakynthos from 4-8 September. The ranges of issues covered is vast, from nuclear energy to life under the sea.
The programme includes an international and a Greek competition; a tribute to filmmaker Jacques Perrin including the screening of Microcosmos, Migratory Birds as well as documentaries about how he made these world famous films. A forum called Television and Environment. A disaster’s theory will examine how this medium reports natural disasters and the self-explanatory Works in Progress will sneak preview a number of forthcoming films about the flora and fauna that inhabit Greek waters.
For the second year running, National Geographic will give industry professionals and the public practical demonstrations of the filmmaking equipment their crews use on location. The programme also allows industry professionals, journalists, environmentalists and concerned members of the public to meet individually and in groups and discuss the future of our planet.
