Autumn Ball won over 20 international awards in 2007, including the Horizons section in Venice and the Golden Star in Marrakesh. Öunpuu’s second feature film looks like another festival favourite as it starts 2010 with selections at two major festivals: Sundance, where it will screen in the World Cinema Narrative competition programme, and Rotterdam, where it will vie for a VPRO Tiger award.

The Estonian filmmaker’s new title is described by Rotterdam’s programmers as “a parable on the new, wolf-like capitalism in Eastern Europe with its compassionless capitalist rules and rulers. Shot in beautiful black and white, Õunpuu’s vision is provocative and dark, but also very diverting with his use of black comedy.”

The Temptation was produced by Estonia’s Katrin Kissa (Homeless Bob Production), with Sweden’s Atmo and Finland’s Bronson Club. LevelK will be launching the film at the European Film Market in Berlin (February 11-21).

Other titles on LevelK’s line-up include Gunnar Vikene’s Norwegian youth drama Vegas [+see also:

and Danish family film Storm by Giacomo Campeotto.
