Dragon Tattoo biggest winner at Guldbagge

Niels Arden Oplev’s Swedish blockbuster The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo won some of the top awards, including Best Film and Best Actress (Noomi Rapace), at last night’s Guldbagge awards ceremony in Stockholm.
Sweden’s annual film ceremony was destined to be influenced by the first Millennium film adaptation, which sold over 7.5 million tickets worldwide in 2009 and 1.2m in Sweden alone. It was therefore only natural that the film grabbed a third Guldbagge from an audience jury.
The other biggest winners of the evening were Lisa Siwe’s directorial debut Glowing Stars – which won Best Director and Supporting Actress – and Nils Malmros’ The Wedding Photographer, which turned two of its nominations, for Best Actor and Screenplay, into awards.
Critics’ favourite The Girl by Fredrik Edfeldt had to make do with only one award (out of four nominations), for Best Cinematography to Hoyte van Hoytema, who previously impressed with his work on Let the Right One In [+see also:

After the Palme d’or and the Golden Globes, Michael Haneke added to his prize chest the Golden Shell (‘Guld’ ‘bagge’) from the Swedish jury, which comprised Katinka Faragó, Nils Petter Sundgren, Pia Johansson, Jannike Åhlund, Johan Renck, Mikael Marcimain and jury chairman Eva Swartz Grimaldi.
