The 2010 European Film Market (EFM) was “a solid market that exuded an air of optimism. We are very content with this year’s results. We were able to meet the expectations of industry attendees, and that’s our top priority,” said Beki Probst, managing director of EFM, which closed its doors last Friday.

According to official figures published yesterday by the EFM, the market held in parallel to the 60th Berlinale registered a total of 6,450 visitors. Some 419 companies (including 129 new ones) from 48 countries introduced their latest films and projects to over 1,300 world buyers. A total of 666 films – of which 517 market premieres – screened during the nine-day event.

Already on the market’s first weekend, over 500 visitors attended the EFM Industry Debates, while the Meet the Docs initiative, presented in cooperation with the European Documentary Network (EDN), was also a great success.
