Artificial Eye and Sky Box office will simultaneously release Todd Solontz’s Life During Wartime. The film will be released in 10 UK cinemas from 23rd April, on the same day it will be available on Sky Box Office for two weeks only.

The film features Allison Janney, Charlotte Rampling, Ciarán Hinds, Ally Sheedy, Paul Reubens and Shirley Henderson. It won the Golden Osella award at the Venice Film Festival 2009 for Best Screenplay and was also nominated for the Golden Lion. It is part sequel/part variation on Solondz’s acclaimed film Happiness, which won the 1998 Cannes Film Festival FIPRESCI Prize and nominated for a Golden Globe in 1999 for Best Screenplay.

Philip Knatchbull, CEO of Artificial Eye said: “There are many people who won’t or can’t go to see a film on its release in cinemas, but by paying the same price will be able to see that film, day and date, in the comfort of their own home. At the same time Sky’s cross-platform promotion of the film will provide greater awareness for those who might like to see it in a cinema but who otherwise might not have been aware of it. We see this as a great model for the future distribution of smaller independent films.”

Ian Lewis, Director of Sky Movies and Sky Box Office said, “The simultaneous release of Life During Wartime in both cinemas and Sky Box Office ensures the title is instantly available for movie fans all over the country to enjoy.”
