Minister Bondi demands greater transparency, money only to debut films
Speaking last Saturday in Venice on public financing mechanisms for film production, Minister of Culture Sandro Bondi said: "I will re-evaluate the criteria for film financing, because thus far they have not been very transparent and have given way to unjustified funding".
For Bondi, the state must take a step back and return to a market that is "entrusted more to private [investors]". Public funding "must be limited to debut films by young directors,” he concluded.
