Godard documentaries to screen in Paris
by Anna Percival
The 32nd Cinéma du Réel Film Festival, to be held in Paris from March 18-28, will put the spotlight on Swiss documentaries. Audiences will get a chance to rediscover works by eminent directorial duo Jean-Luc Godard and Anne-Marie Miéville with The Old Place and Reportage Amateur.
Besides Richard Dindo’s Gauguin In Tahiti and the Marquesas Islands (see news), the festival will also present young director Zijad Ibrahimovic’s Gatekeepers of War, which focuses on the filmmaker’s return to Bosnia and the gaping wounds left by the war, including the discovery that his parents are buried in a communal grave.
Homage will also be paid to recently-deceased Swiss director Carole Roussopoulos, with the screening of Angela Davis Is At Your Mercy.
