New film for Gong Li

After her Venice Film Festival's Presidency of the Jury, Chinese actress Gong Li is to star in what promises to be the most important French film of 2003, La Marque Jaune. Charles Gassot’s Téléma(Tanguy and Intimacy) is producing this film that is budgeted at Euros 34 million and will be funded by TF1, TPS and Korean and German partners.
It is based on the adventures of cartoon characters, Blake and Mortimer, and will be directed by James Huth. This is Gong Li’s first western feature film and her co-stars are British actors Rufus Sewell (Dark City, Chevalier) and Hugh Bonneville(Notting Hill, Never Better). Filming will begin on La Marque Jaune in February 2003 and will last for sixteen weeks (12 of which in the studio) on location in England, France and Germany. UGC will distribute the film in France in October 2004 with TF1 International handling world sales.
