Ya Sharr Mout honoured at Montreal

by

At the 28th International Festival of Films on Art, Sabine Gisiger received the Best Portrait Award for her documentary film Ya Sharr Mout.

Over one year, the Swiss director followed Lebanese-born, Swiss-based musician Mahmoud Turkmani as he developed a unifying musical project, blending texts by Lebanese poetess Nadia Tuéni with images by Swiss video artist Michael Spahr and his own music.

This accolade will enable Ya Sharr Mout to be screened in high places of world culture, including the Louvre Museum in Paris, Le Fresnoy National Studio for Contemporary Arts in Tourcoing, the Tate Modern in London, the AIA/Center for Architecture in New York and the Quebec National Museum of Fine Arts.
