Crime and opera for Laurent in Requiem for a Killer
Shooting starts next Monday on Jérôme Le Gris’s debut feature, the political thriller Requiem for a Killer (“A Requiem For Mister Child”), produced by Alain Terzian.
The film’s bill is headed by Mélanie Laurent, a rising star of French cinema. Shooting Star 2007 and winner of the Best Female Newcomer Cesar 2007, Laurent has recently graced screens in three theatrical hits: Inglourious Basterds [+see also:

Scripted by the director, the film centres on Lucrèce (Laurent), a hitwoman who is passionate about opera and has been hired to kill a baritone singer (Stills).
This contract, which is expected to be her final mission, has to be carried out during a festival in Switzerland where she will pass herself off as an opera singer, performing Handel’s Messiah. But French counter-intelligence is keeping watch through guitarist Rico (Cornillac).
Produced by Alter Films, Requiem for a Killer has co-production backing from France 2 Cinéma , Rhône-Alpes Cinéma and StudioCanal, and a pre-acquisition from Canal+.
The nine-week shoot will take place until June 11 in Ile-de-France (six weeks), before relocating to Lyon and the Alps (three weeks). Studio Canal has bought the French distribution and international sales rights.
