Locarno launches Industry Days
With Industry Days, the Locarno Film Festival (August 4-14, 2010) will this year for the first time offer three full days dedicated to film professionals, with a programme of screenings and meetings.
Concentrated at the beginning of the festival, from August 7-9, the event reserved for buyers will offer previews of the films of the Piazza Grande along with those of the International and Filmmakers of the Present competitions.
In parallel, producers and distributors will be able to participate over the three days in a series of workshops and round tables organised in collaboration with the partners of Locarno’s Industry Office. Also announced was an initiative by Europa Distribution – which continues its collaboration with the Festival this year – reserved for its member who will be attending Locarno.
Professionals at Locarno will moreover be able to take part in various meetings at the Open Doors Factory, the Festival’s co-production workshop held during the same dates, which is this year dedicated to Central Asia. There will also be a co-production case study and a round table on the Central Asian film industries, which will be attended by numerous experts in the field.
According to Artistic Director Olivier Père, “With Industry Days we intend to reinforce Locarno’s allure as a professional platform and a rendezvous for independent cinema".
