film profile] will again work with Danish director Lars von Trier on his new project Melancholia, alongside Kirsten Dust, Kiefer Sutherland, Charlotte Rampling, John Hurt, and f ather and son Stellan and Alexander Skarsgård. The announcement came yesterday at Cannes.
For once, Oscar-winning cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle is not associated with a von Trier film, but instead, Hoyte van Hoytema (Let the Right One In [+see also:

film profile]). The director’s portrayal of the end of the world will start shooting on July 19 in Trollhättan studios in Western Sweden.
The €7.5m film is produced by Zentropa with Sweden’s Memfis Film, France’s Marianne Slot (Slot Machine) and Germany’s Bettina Brokemper (Heimatfilm). World sales are handled by TrustNordisk.
