StellaNova to bring another Åsa Larsson crime novel to screen

Lena Rehnberg of StellaNova Film is producing The Blood Spilt, the second adaptation of an Åsa Larsson crime novel, for which actress Izabella Scorupco will slip back into detective Rebecka Martinsson’s uniform.

Former Bond girl Scorupco will reprise the character she played in Sunstorm, adapted for the screen in 2007 by Leif Lindholm from Swedish best-selling crime novelist Larsson’s The Savage Altar. Other cast members – such as Jakob Eklund, Lena B Eriksson and Göran Forsmark – will appear in the new project, unlike Lindholm who will be replaced by Danish filmmaker Birger Larsen (Super Brother [+see also:

The story focuses on the mysterious murder of an outspoken feminist priest with many friends and enemies. Filming is set to start later this summer in Kiruna, in northern Sweden.

The experiences Rehnberg, who founded StellaNova Film in 2008, after several years at the head of Sandrew Metronome’s production arm in Sweden, has several other films in her line-up. Following her successful collaboration with actor-writer Peter Magnusson on last year’s Swedish hit A Midsummer of Love, she will produce his new project, set to start shooting later this year. Rehnberg will also bring to the screen the biopic on legendary jazz singer Monica Zetterlund, from an original script by acclaimed Swedish writer Peter Birro.

Rehnberg’s three new projects will be released theatrically in the Nordic territories by Nordisk Film, who signed an output deal with her at the latest Cannes Film Festival.
